Product Facets

A product facet is customer facing search parameter that is based on one or more product attributes. When customers are searching for their desired product in your store they may not know the specific attribute naming or vernacular that you use for classifying your products. Additionally, they may not be looking for a specific color, but simply a color family that emcompasses many similar colors.

Facets are grouped into facet groups that have similar characteristcs. For example a Facet group could be named "Color Family". Within the group, each selectable customer-facing option is created and then mapped to real product attributes, allowing a single facet value to encompass a variety of different product values. This helps simplify the customer experience and guide customers to what they are looking for

Attributes

Facet Group attributes are as follows:

Property Description
Name The name of the group of attributes as it will appear in the search navigation or heading. eg.g. "Color Family" or "Price Range"
Short Description Brief descriptive text for providing the customer more information about a group
Product Atribute The product attribute that the facets of this group should map to. Possible values are:
  • Brand
  • Season
  • Department
  • Color Code
  • Color Description
  • Price
  • Size 1
  • Size 2
  • Size 3
  • Feature
Facet Name The name of the facet as it should apear to the customer.
Image An optional image asset for displaying images instead of text values.
Values The list of product data values that when present in the designated "product attribute" field should tie the product in this facet.

Searching for Facet Groups

To find a product or group of product facets, a search block has been provided.

The Name field allows you to filter facets that only show groups whos name contains the characters entered. The Active-only option filters your result to only show currently active facets.

Searching for a product facet

Details

To create a new facet group, click the Add New button above the search criteria. Choose a name for the group, a short description and select the target product attribute. Once created, you can begin adding your mappings to the elemnt.

Adding a product facet group

To add a facet to the group, use the "Add facet" block to specify the Name for the facet, and a value. The value should be an exact match of a value that would be found in the specified product attribute. For example, if you the product attribute for the group is "Color Code", the value you enter should match to a color code, such as BRN or BLACK. Click Create new facet and the facet will appear in the list of facets.

Editing a product facet group

Once a facet has been created with its initical value, additional values can be added by using the "add new value" field within the facet row. Enter the additional value and click the "plus" icon to add. To remove a value, click the "X" in the value pill to remove it from the list.

Once all of your revisions have been made, click "Save All Changes" to commit them to the site.
