Fraud Rules
Fraud rules are essential for protecting your business from unauthorized or suspicious transactions. They help identify and prevent fraudulent activity by automatically flagging or blocking orders that meet certain risk criteria.
Why fraud rules are needed:
- Reduce chargebacks and financial loss from stolen credit card use or fake orders.
- Protect customer data and maintain trust.
- Automate risk detection, saving time on manual order reviews.
- Ensure compliance with payment processors and reduce account suspensions.
Fraud rules can be based on factors like mismatched billing/shipping addresses, high order values, unusual purchasing behavior, or multiple failed payment attempts.
Fraud Rules Home Detail screen
The details screen allows you to manage the fraud rule name and the various order attributes that will trigger a review. When matching the order, all populated fields must match the fields of the order to trigger a match. If a field is left blank, it will not be used in comparison against the order.

| Style ID | Match if the order contains this style ID. Multiple Style IDs can be added by adding a comma to separate. |

| Active Status | Indicates whether the rule is active or inactive. If the rule is inactive, it will not be evaluated when orders are placed. |
Warning
Be careful of making a rule too generic. If you do not make a rule specific enough, it may cause an excessive number of orders to be marked for review. Before saving and migrating your rule, try reading it out loud to yourself to see if it makes sense.
Ex: "I want to personally review all orders that have a ....".
